PORSCHE 3L RSR

A Porsche Carrera RSR 3.0 is, in itself, an exceptional machine. The example we are presenting is even more so, with its prestigious track record and its magnificently restored condition. For Porsche, competition is second nature and the manufacturer has produced some of the best racing machines of their time. The Carrera RSR was one of those stars, and during 1974 and 1975 it roamed the circuits, dominating its class by delivering top-level performance and a robust season that enabled it to finish races. Stemming from the famous Carrera RS 2.7, the 2.8-litre RSR then evolved into the 3.0-litre RSR, the ultimate version of the model before the era of the 934/935 Turbo. She won multiple titles in FIA Group 4, as well as in the United States in the IMSA and Trans-Am championships. The 3.0 RSR was equipped with the 911/75 type engine with special camshafts, dual ignition, Bosch injection, dry sump lubrication and exhaust via two megaphones producing a sound capable of waking up the most jaded... With a displacement of 2,992 cm3 and a high compression ratio, the power exceeded 300 hp at 8,000 rpm, transmitted to the wheels by a 5-speed gearbox and a Sachs clutch. The suspension springs were made of steel or titanium. The Porsche Carrera RSR sat on five-spoke, mid-mount wheels (identical to those on the 917), shod with ultra-wide 14-inch tires at the rear. As always with the manufacturer from Weissach, the weight had been the subject of all attention and, thanks to lightened body panels and a stripped interior, it did not exceed 900 kg. These characteristics allowed this racing car to exceed 270 km/h at peak speed and to go from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 5 seconds. Well born, the 911 Carrera RSR proved to be one of the best "customer competition" ever produced by the manufacturer
